You got that right, Les. There was none better and although it was inevitable, this is ONE piece of news I NEVER EVER wanted to hear...

I received a phone call early this morning with the sad news. I was told, I had better sit down, if I wasn't already. Bill, my friend and former co-worker, you can now rest in peace.

I can't hardly believe it. He was simply the best at what he did. Many years ago, I would DX the AM band, and I heard people who are now considered legends, including Dick Biondi and Art Roberts. They weren't in the same league as The Duke. Bill was THE MAN! May he rest in peace.

"Old" friends from the WAKY era knew me as "Betty", though it sounds foreign to me now!

And with him goes a thousand and one great stories...
In his own inimitable voice, I can hear him saying with a chuckle, "Get the pot a"boiling; I'm-a-comin'-home!"
Your tab is paid in full; now you can really let it rip, Bill!
Gone, but never, nev-er, forgotten!
Thanks for the laughs, my friend; thanks for the memories!

I am Shelly Schultz...Bill's oldest daughter. I want to Thank all of the fans and friends who have been around to support my sisters and I.We loved our Dad so much and as you saw him as the Duke, he was our father . I could not have asked for a better man to teach me about life. I am glad that so many people were able to enjoy this incredible man , my Dad, as we did.Special thanks to our Mom, Reed , Terry , Johnny , Weird, Cayote , and all those wonderful folks I just can't name right now....
