In '67, WAKY and the Rod 'N Custom show sponsored a Battle of the Bands contest with 12 groups getting a cut on an a album. The name of the album was The Louisville Scene. I am looking for a copy. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Yes. I was in the group The Rondells. We were together from around '62 to '68.

Cool! I remember the Rondells or...at least hearing about them (I was born in '63). Wow, that's a legendary Louisville name!

Max there were several groups of the same name and reached nation play. Sadly it was not us. Back then it was unusal for regionl bands having the same name with no one the wiser. We were based in the Valley Station-Okolona part of town and played in that general area. We did local teen dances and an ocassion Sheperdsville or E-Town jobs came up. Even did a Mammoth Cave job and a political rally or two for A.B. Happy Chandler. We did a Pleasure Valley CC dance sponsored by good old WAKY and hosted by THE Duke himself. We also played Whispering Hills and Waverlery Hills. All in all a good times were had by all.

Well regardless if you were not the 'big ones', you obviously had the pleasure of being one of the Louisville bands that played a big part in the regional local music scene of that era! And that, my friend, is something nobody can take away from you!
