Just wanted to tell you how unique Johnny Randolph was as a program director and how well he knew his staff. When I was working 6-9pm I got a call from my neighbor telling me that my wife had had a miscarriage. Johnny had been downtown listening to the station. He came to the control room as soon as he arrived and asked me what was wrong. I asked him how he knew something was wrong and he said he could tell by my voice and to get to the hospital while he finished my shift. What an awesome man to work for and I will always consider him one of the finest men I have ever known. I also wanted to thank John Quincy for all he has done with the WAKY website and it was a pleasure to finally get to meet him. Also thanks to Tom Prestagiacomo for bringing Don Meyers to make the evening complete. I had a wonderful time and will never forget this reunion. Thanks to everyone who came. It was also a pleasure to meet Max and Travis. John, if you set up a reunion for next summer, my wife and I will be there. I am a very lucky man to have worked with such great talent, especially my friend Bill Bailey. My wife loves him as well. I don't know what else to say except WOW, what a night Dude Walker ;D

It was great to sit and chat with Dude, Johnny, Byron,Tom, Bob, Steve, Duke,Gary, Mack, BO,Tim,Don,Bill,John,Michael Louis, and the rest of that mad mad crowd. I was inspired by the fact that in one small room of the Corner Cafe, most of the greatest radio talent in America shared their lives with each other. I was amazed that no one was interested in the food fight I vainly tried to organize and I was stunned that Byron Crawford refused my advances. What can I say that you don't already know. We laughed all night long. Well actually the cute little girl with the patience of Job kicked us out at 11:00PM. Mace-in-yer-face

Dude, Thanks for recognizing Don Meyers in your note (above). All of us know that those WAKY days in Louisville were magic: the proper blend of diverse jocks and newsguys and audience and music and promotions and clients who all believed in the product. Thanks to Weird Beard, I still have an Edwardian shirt from the House of Adam! But you know better than most that FM 100 here in Memphis is still as close as you can get to the WAKY philosophy on the FM band. That came from Don Meyers and Gary Guthrie's arrival here in 78/ 79. While you cannot compare Bill Bailey to Ron Olson in style, you can't deny the similarity of their relatability to their audience. Like Randolph, Gary Guthrie "split the middle" and found music we could play that only sounded "right" for FM 100... Gary's promotions and contests were fun, well thought out and his production values were incredible! And, just like you guys did in the 60's and 70's, we applied a "full court press" for charities and the schools of Memphis. While we all get our on air "props", all of us know the name on the back of the jersey is not more important than the one on the front. Three of us have celebrated 25th anniversaries on the air here, building on the same basic philosophies Don Meyers brought with him when he left Louisville. That being said, I hope I get to see you b-e-f-o-r-e next years gathering. Don't you think we should "roast" Johnny Randolph? I would pay to hear the stories that would come out. My office number is 726-0486.
Mason Lee, You still make me laugh out loud and, from now on I will think of you everytime I see a Jaguar with 3 hubcaps. Now, will you please send John Quincy a copy of St. Bohan's Day so I can print it out?
sincerely, Jockomo
