Have you guys seen this? See Link below. Just put in Louisville, KY and the name of the station you want and it will tell you what songs were played the last hour or so. I wish I had this during the WAKY days because many times I would hear a song and it would be a day or two before I would learn the name and artist of the song. stoneage.yes.com/

Many radio stations now have that feature on their station's website. It will generally show what is currently playing and what has played over the past half hour or hour.
Some even have a feature where you can select a date & time that you heard something, but didn't know what it was, and a brief listing of the tunes that played around that date & time will appear.
The 2005 Toyota Corolla that I rented for the WAKY-WKLO mini-reunion featured a radio that scrolled the song's title & artist, along with the station's frequency & nick (such as Oldies 108) repeatedly across the LED display.
It must have been some sort of a sub-carrier signal from the station's transmitter. Maybe Mike Griffin can help me with this. The scroll could be customized to show the time, temperature and whatever. It was very, very cool.
As I drove listening to an oldies station, and checking the info on the scroll, I couldn't help but feel that this technology was far too late because...
I ALREADY KNEW THE TITLE & ARTIST OF THE SONGS THAT WERE PLAYING!! SHEEESH!! ;D

I think that radio feature might be called RDS.

I just noticed the only stations listed for this area are FM stations. There is an oldies AM station located at 940 on the dial. It has a rather weak signal.

The "Yes" service utilizes data gathered by BDS -- the same service that trade magazines like Radio & Records use to measure "spins" of current music. Not every station in a measured market is monitored. I would guess very few AM stations would be.
