Hey Dude what was the name of that Monkey Meeks record? I liked it but I can't remember. Did it do any good outside of Louisville?
I remember you brought a tape of the band "Louisville" into the station one day (or were they the "Munch Brothers)?" Didn't you have something to do with them too?
What am I remembering or blending together here? Were there other bands you had something to do with?

Hey Mike, you are right. I did manage the Monkey Meeks band along with Louisville which became the Munch brothers when they went with me to Canada. Monkey's record was "Take Me To Your Heart" which made it to the billboard charts. It got a lot of play in other cities, thanks to Johnny Randolph who got some of his radio friends to play it. The Munch Brothers became hugh in Canada and drew over 100,000 people to CHUM's end of summer concert. They went on to open for the Bee Gees and the Osmonds. Hope that answers your questions. Take care, Dude Walker

I think the name Louisville would be a good name for a band back then. Why did they change?

Hey Kevin, no one knew them in Canada. I got a promotion going with CHIM and PS 100 cigarettes for them to travel all over Ontario with all expenses paid and had their first name down one leg and their last name down the other leg and by the time summer was over, everyone in Ontario knew their name . That's why they drew over 100,000 people to CHUM's end of summer concert. Thanks, Dude

Dude I'm sorry I couldn't remember the Monkey Meeks record title. I thought it was very good and that it was pretty awesome that you had put that band together.
I didn't get to hear the Munch Brothers live but I seem to recall the tape you brought in had a sound similar to some of the Beatles slower more acoustic sounding songs, a good sound. Do I remember that correctly? Did they do a variety of music? Any records? Any chance of some snippits that JQ could post on the site?

Mike, I am not sure if I have one of the Munch brother records that they recorded in Toronto but I will check. They did a variety of songs and were great witrh Beatle music. They also backed Wolfman Jack when he was in Oshowa, Ontario and drew 50,000 people. One of the Stampeders came up to me and said the did "Sweet City Woman" better than them. It was a very exciring summer. Take care Dude Walker
