I am looking for a CD or something along those lines, of all the great early 60s bands in town. The Monarchs, Sultans, The Epics, all of them and their greatest hits.
Does anyone know where I might locate a CD like that or is it possible for some one to burn me a cd and ill pay you for it.
Thanks

There was an unknown gentleman at the Reunion in July who had some CD's featuring the artists you mentioned. I know this will make you sick, but he was giving them away! It's called "Louisville's Original Hit Makers" and features Paul Penny, Cosmo, the Carnations, Tren-dells, Monarchs, Sultans, and the Epics. It is copyrighted 2002 by the Kentucky Derby City Music Co. on the JELP Records label. I know Ben & I were standing there talking and he just appeared out of nowhere...like the Lone Ranger...gave them to us, and moved on. I never saw him again.
If you can't find a copy locally or through the above contacts, send me a personal message.
Good luck!

You guys are terrific. Im in Atlanta so im a bit out of the loop on some of the record stores and such so if any of you have a name and number ill follow up on that.
Not sure who was the Lone Ranger, but I have an idea it was Paul Penny. He was either selling something like that or knew someone that was. I read that in an article that I googled on. It was written by Bryon Crawford who pointed out to me he worked at WAKY in like 66 or so.
Anyway whatever help any of you all can give me is appreciated. I will tell you that last Friday I believe, on the Bill Bennet National radio show, he mentioned all the good bands out of Louisville about that time and I think even played a song by the Monarchs.
LOL, bring on Tom Dooley and the Lovelights, those were the days.

Bruiser sez The Monarchs have become the unofficial band of The Bill Bennett Show.

Ben, I can't say whether or not he was...could've been, I didn't get a good look at him. We were talking in that side room where the hor's deuvers (horse doovers) were and he kinda meandered in and between him standing between us and the open window, it being dark inside (all I could see was his silhouette) and the noise I couldn't really see or hear if he introduced himself.

Paul Penny is kind of a small guy. Has to be in his sixties.
