Just curious if WAKY (or any local station for that matter) had any involvement in or promoting Stripes - after all the whole opening sequence was filmed near the WAKY studios.
Love how they drive to Clarksville to get to the airport LOL

Stripes was a great movie. The scenes from downtown was from Staurt's Department Store at 4th & Walnut, and I believe WKLO studios ;D were also in the shots down the street on Walnut as seen from a distance.

Ah, Stewart's Dry Goods Co. Louisville will never see another store like that. It was THE department store back in the day. I worked in the shipping department there in the mid sixties. It was to high priced for us employees to buy much, but anybody who was anybody shopped there.

Bruiser, do you remember the Saturday Morning's at Stewart's with Tim Tyler, the later 60's in the afternoon with the "Real Tom Dooley" doing the remotes? Those were a real blast and Fun on the Mighty 790.

I know I had already quit when Tom Dooley was doing remotes, and I don't recall Tim Tyler being there.
