Leonard, where are you? I know you're still around the area, and having been a jock on WAKY and other stations, you should be sharing your encyclopedic knowledge of Louisvile radio and music with the rest of us.

I second that!
A couple of weeks ago David Inman gave me what he thought was Leonard's snail-mail address. I wrote a letter but received no response.
If anybody knows where Leonard is, please have him get in touch with John@79WAKY.com.

My sister knows of him, he was a teacher or something for Jefferson County. I'll ask her if she knows where he is.

Yeah, Leonard is a retired teacher. Radio was an avocation for him.

I'm sure she'll know how to get in touch with him, I have a call in to her now.
See, I am more than just a pretty face.

I just talked to my sister. Mr. Yates has actually been substituting for principles since he retired, she is going to contact him tomorrow, and give him this link.

Isn't this ironic. I was just thinking about making a new post asking about Yates when i found this. I remember listening to Yates in the 80's on Sunday Afternoons & always liked the way he explaned some of the stories behind the songs. I remember him playing the song "Billy & Sue" by B.J. Thomas & after that he was telling everyone "if they thought that songwas sad wait until you hear the next one" And he was right. The next song was "Girl In Love" by The Outsiders & it was sad. I enjoyed listening ti his countdown shows he had. Like ive said in other posts of how nice it would be if AM Radio would drop Talk Shows & go back to the way it was.

Good news -- I just got off the phone with Leonard Yates.
He'll be contributing material to both the WAKY and WKLO sites.

That's good news. He knows his stuff, especially about the local musicians.
