Again, as the holiday season nears, the period from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day will see a small portion of our programming dedicated to Christmas music & holiday programming, much like last year, including an 8 part 'Dude Walker Christmas Memories'...basically available in it's entirety in one lump sum at this site. At the end of the year we will also take a look back at 2006 to determine our first Record of the Year, as determined by listener votes throughout the year. And in determining the record winning the first ' WAKY', we will compile a list of the highest vote-getters throughout the year by WAKYOnline/Live365 listeners, and present a Top 5 before YOU, the 79waky.com faithful. From there, YOU will vote for Record of the Year. Heck, we may even come up with a trophy to send the winning artist. Then again, with the possibility of their security thinking it's a bomb and destroying it, that might need to be rethought...

With 7 weeks left in 2006, the following songs are currently vying for Record of the Year: - On and On-Stephen Bishop (#1 for 3 weeks)
- The Morning After-Maureen McGovern (#1 for 3 weeks)
- Crocodile Rock-Elton John (#1 for 2 weeks)
- Chain of Fools-Aretha Franklin (#1 for 2 weeks, and the current #1)
The list is assured to grow in the final weeks. After the end of the year a Final Top 10 will be posted, and of this list 5 or so will be selected as eligible for the title. Be sure to continue to cast your votes for your faves and especially at the year end poll!

To refresh your memories, if needed , at year's end WAKYOnline will produce a montage of the candidates for Record of the Year. In addition to the final Top 5 contenders, we will have a final overall Top 10, plus an Honorable Mention slate. This slate will be compiled not only of all #1's, but also of who spent the most weeks on the Top 10 list.

It's coming down to the final week of 2006 and time is running out to get your votes in for the year's last Top 10 list. Next week we'll look back over 2006 (we didn't actually start the list until May) at the songs that spent the most time in the Top 10 and especially at the top and present a short list of nominees for Record of the Year. Be watching and listening (for a montage of the candidates) in the next two weeks!
