Wow. That last show actually caused me to get a bit teary-eyed there toward the end. And I'm still having difficulty believing that Gary Burbank is 66 years of age and has actually retired from the biz. It seems like only yesterday that me and my buddies were walking home from Gottschalk Junior High (which was later renamed Iroquois Middle and is probably something else today) and on our portable radio we would have Gary's afternoon show blaring away on WAKY and we would all be taking turns trying to imitate Gary Burbank, imitating Laugh-In's Gary Owens, by saying one particular line over & over again. "This is Gary Burbank telling you and only you... *bLeEp* You." Yes. It's true. We were typical teenage boys with unruly mouths, in dire need of soap, but those were the good ole days of WAKY, Gary Burbank and walking home from Gottschalk Jr. High. I will say that we did, at least, put a hand up to our ear as we said the line. And that should count for something. Well... maybe not. I'm Travis Hardwick, former Uhmerikun teenage boy... *bLeEp* OFF."
