Hey, wasn't Chicken Man on WAKY back in the 60's and early 70's. Any idea where those great spots are? I was so excited when I ran across WAKY in the car the other day I haven't been able to stop listening. Great to have you back--I know Mike Griffin's been in touch with you--you should try to get him to do some spots for the new WAKY. Anyway, great to have you back. I answered my own question. Chicken Man is available: www.danoday.com/uscatalog/usa.cgi?command=listitems&pos=0&type=search&refpage=navAll 273 episodes plus bonus material. Whoopie!

Chickenman was aired on WKLO in the mid-to-late '60s.
To my knowledge, WAKY never ran the feature -- but many folks think they did.

I'm thinking Chicken Man ran on WKLO in the mid to late '60s, but with so many of us punching back & forth on those in-dash AM radio pre-set buttons, Chicken Man seemed to be-- say it with me now... "He's Everywhere, He's Everywhere!!"
Chicken Man was later re-prised on Elizabethtown's WQXE (Quicksie) during the summer of '74. I know because I was there at the time and even ran it on my show. It was sponsored by KFC which, because it was finger lickin' good, also had a tendency to-- say it with me now... "It's Everywhere, It's Everywhere!!"

Summerof69, wasn't Chicken Man on WCFL in Chicago. I believe the originator worked at WCFL at the time. I do not remember it being on the Big 89.

Chickenman was produced by WCFL's Dick Orkin. After its success as a local feature on WCFL, it went into syndication -- but to my knowledge, WLS never aired it -- especially during the days WCFL was still around.
Dick Orkin, of course, has gone onto a long and successful career doing radio spots all over the country.
Just like people do with WAKY and WKLO, people confuse WCFL and WLS. Since some folks worked at both sets of stations (Bill Bailey in Louisville, Larry Lujack in Chicago) it's easy to do since all four were great Top 40 stations back in the day.

I cannot remember the year but it was definitely during one of the summers of my youth. To compete with Chicken Man, WAKY ran something called: "Return to Paper Plates". It's google-able. See if that brings back any memories.
Yours in radio, TJP

I don't recall "Return To Paper Plates". I did google it, and see the otr folks are offering it. I collect otr shows, and never ran across it. On the other hand, I have several episodes of "Chickenman".
