Jackson Armstrong (John C. Larsh), the high-energy, super-creative air personality who was a major inspiration for WAKY's Coyote Calhoun, has passed away. He died at his home in Greensboro, NC on March 22, 2008. www.radio-info.com/smf/index.php/topic,95729.0.html#top (You'll need to cut and paste the entire link into your browsers's address bar.) Jack worked in big markets all over the country including Los Angeles, Boston, Cleveland, Miami and Buffalo before coming home to North Carolina after his 47-year radio career ended in 2006. When it comes to fast-talkin' "screaming" Top 40 DJs of the 60s and 70s, Jack Armstrong is at the top of the list right up there with Wolfman Jack.
