My wife told me this evening that Bill Bailey has passed away. I told her there's no way for if he did it would have been all over the Courier Journal. Can anyone back me up here? I think he is still in the nursing home on 146 in Pee Wee Valley. Thank, mc

My wife and I had a cheeseburger with him yesterday and I just got off the phone with him a minute ago. The Duke is very much alive, in fact he said he feels almost as good as he did back when he could leap tall buildings in a single bound! Bill sends greetings and salutations to all his friends and fans! L

I'm sure the Duke would be the first to tell anyone that "only the good die young" and to expect him to be around for a long time to come.

Got a note today from Gary Burbank, who said he visited The Duke over the weekend. Gary wrote:
"I saw Bailey this last weekend. He looks great. In fact better than ever in the last couple of years. He said he is going to the July 4th get together at Churchill Downs."
(Gary is referring, of course, to WAKY-FM's "World Largest Free Picnic." I understand several of the former WAKY-AM jocks will be on hand.)

Bill Bailey is still going strong. he called me and told me he wamted me to come to the WAKY picnic at churchill downs and said NO was not an option. So my wife and I will be heading to Louisville for the big picnic. Hope to see a lot of you there. If I don't know you, just walk up and introduce yourself. Thanks to Johnny Randolph for inviting me as well. best always, Dude Walker

Glad to hear The Duke is doing well.
What was the name of the comic strip that featured Bill as a superhero?
Edit: think The Duke may have been Captain Kentucky.
Another edit: The Duke wasn't Captain Kentucky. Was The Duke the foil of Captain Kentucky?
