What a bummer. I'm working on this Christmas Eve (as I generally do to allow those with younger families to be home for Christmas) and I was looking forward to hearing WAKY 103-5's Christmas programming via streaming audio. Last year the programming included customized WAKY Christmas jingles, pre-recorded greetings from legendary WAKY & WKLO jocks (even one from John Quincy), Dude Walker's 1970 Christmas Special (with music remastered, remixed, rehashed and all sorts of stuff like that by John Quincy) and the stereo audio quality of WAKY's stream sounded terrific in the control room of where I work.
Sadly, as I write, I'm without the streaming audio. It's just not working tonight. It appears to be locking up right after the intro jingle. I'm having to settle for bringing in Christmas programming from a local *guLp* *gAsP* Cheap Channel Communications station. Actually, the programming is fine (everyone just loves to pick on Clear Channel) but bringing the stream of WAKY 103-5 into the control room, with its customized jingles and greetings, was a way of bringing a bit of home into Florida on Christmas Eve. Well, there's always next year (and these days the years are passing far more quickly than before) and just as it was when the Grinch stole all the presents & stuff out of Whoville, in an attempt to stop Christmas from coming, Christmas came all the same and so it is, here.
Merry Christmas Ever' Body!!
