I have been thinking about this for a few days now, but I have heard enough zaney characters on the WAKY and WKLO airchecks, to think a movie about these two stations would be cool. Could you imagine the guys at 790 and 1080 being immortalized, for the world to see? There is enough history, and water under the bridge, and a rivalry that's worthy of being on the big screen. I'm not a writer, just throwing an idea out there, just to see if it sticks. ;D

While WAKY & WKLO have a very special meaning to those of us who grew up with these stations I'm not sure if a movie could capture the magic that would appeal to a national audience. Jack Sanders setting fire to news copy as the newsman stomps around trying to put it out (while trying to continue reading it on the air) would be a moment, as would Johnny Randolph's prank which led to WAKY jingles playing over WKLO. But, is there really enough of these moments to fill 2 hours? And who could possibly play the Duke of Louisville and actually convey to a national audience how unique Bill Bailey was (and still is) in his day? I don't have to tell you that there is only one Bill Bailey, and when he's gone... he's gone. Age not only takes a toll on one's appearance, but also on one's voice. Most, if not all, of our heros do not sound today as they did back then, so we can forget about having them dub their voices for actors in such a movie. At 51, even I don't sound as I did 35 years ago. The first time I heard John Quincy's 'WAKY Remembered' I was floored at how much Johnny Randolph's voice had changed. It's just a fact of life for most, if not all, of us. Still, I like your idea of making a movie about these two wonderful radio stations. If there truly is enough material to fill 2 hours, and if we can find actors that can do our heros justice, AND if financing is available... please go for it. George Lucas pulled off 'American Graffiti.' Maybe this movie would work as well. Oh, and we can forget about having Gary Owens, of beautiful downtown Burbank, California, play or even do the voice of Gary Burbank. I believe he's actually older. Even worse. I believe Burbank has already been asked to play Owens in another movie. ;D *ph-nork*

I don't have the writing talent or the cash to make it happen though. It was just a fun little thing to discuss.
