Mason Dixon (The Tampa one, Jimmie Crawford) was involved in a serious accident in the Tampa Bay area, coming home from work on Saturday (the 18th)...A 19 year old lost control of her '91 Toyota and it left the road, only to return and crossover into the path of Mason's classic '71 Dodge Challenger.. The impact almost cut Mason's machine in half! Collapsed Lung and ruptured spleen were the outcome... He was airlifted to the Medical Center and quickly stabilized! Both Doctors at the Medical Center and WRBQ (Oldies 105) staff expect a full recovery!

That's surely a blessing! Glad to hear Mason Lee is a tough cookie. We will be praying for continued recovery. Wonder if she was on the cell phone. Okay, it's killing me...how's the Challenger? The '70-'71 is my favorite car period!

Just curious. Was that the Mason Dixon who worked at WAKY involved in the car crash, or the Mason Dixon who worked in Tampa and has several vintage cars? The Mason in Tampa is Jimmy Crawford who worked for me at WDXB and the one I worked with in Louisville is David Bratcher. Either way, I wish him the best of health and hope for a speedy recovery.

The Mason Dixon in the crash was the Tampa one. As far as I know WAKY's MLD (David Bratcher) is still fine.

Clarify.. Yes, our Louisville MLD is fine... This is the radio-cuz-zen down south... Everybody knows everybody and it can happen to anyone... Remember the kinship Coyote C. had with Coyote McLoud down in NashVegas? On the cell? I wonder, since she left the road and then came back on and over.. Humm?

As a resident of the Sarasota-Venice area I receive Tampa radio stations quite well. When I moved here in 1989 I heard Tampa's Mason Dixon and couldn't believe someone else was actually using that name. I believe that Tampa's Mason does not have 'Lee' as a middle name as WAKY's MLD does. Tampa's Mason has been around for quite some time and even made the local TV news when he vanished for a short period of time and then resurfaced at another Tampa station. I wish him well. By the way. When I tracked Johnny Randolph to a country station in Evansville, Indiana, back in 2004, I came across another Johnny Randolph who has quite a reputation as a program director in Oregon. Two men with the name of Johnny Randolph, who are noted program directors, living on opposite sides of the country (insert Twilight Zone theme here). The internet has certainly been a strange animal to explore. www.ybcradio.com/home.cfm?dir_cat=19268

I spoke to Dude Walker today and I asked him which Mason Dixon came first -- the one in Louisville or the one who became famous in Florida. Dude says the Louisville one was first. Dude gave the second Mason Dixon his airname when he worked for Dude in Chattanooga. (Dude was the PD.)
