I wonder how many of the WAKY/WKLO alum's/listeners would be interested in a t-shirt(s) of these two great icons? I would be willing to do some research if I can find enough interest. I'm not sure if there is a minimum requirement or not, but this as well as design options can be researched on my end. For starters, I think the logos for these two sites would make for a good start. I could also research any past logos for the stations.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

We're going on a month without any responses. In about a week I guess we'll conclude there's not an interest in t-shirts. So with the costs involved just in doing the screen prints, this may not be a worthwhile project.

You may be right, but keep in mind that this site is still relatively new. I have several unanswered questions scattered about here, but as more people become aware of the site (over time) I may find answers down the line and you may find interest in the shirts. The net is a strange animal, so stay tuned.

I would buy one if you get enough interest.

Thanks, Chuck! I was just about to close the offer, but I'll follow Travis' advice and keep it open a while longer .

Hi Max...Let me know when you start taking orders. I might even order 2...one to wear and one to preseve for another generation or pass down to my grandkids as a reminder as to what real radio was all about.

Yo, Max!
I've been meaning to tell you that I'd be interested in the shirts. I would actually like one that shows both the WAKY and WKLO logos on the same shirt. It would represent the only two stations that most of us ever listened to while growing up.
The only catch would be which station would have its logo on top, or to the left or even on the front (as opposed to being on the back) of the shirt. In some respect, you could say that the rivalry between these two legendary stations continues to this very day.
I'm currently preparing another financial contribution to help cover the bandwidth, and other costs, of maintaining these sites. While they are truly a labor of love for all the hours that John Quincy puts into them, he should not have to bare the costs alone. Many, such as myself, who make a daily visit to these sites have a responsibility. The IRS hit me rather hard last month, but I'm recovering. If you decide to make a go of the shirts, just let me know.

Travis, that's an EXCELLENT idea! Instead of two separate shirts, make a dual shirt-something like "the war wages on", or "the rivalry continues", or "the rivalry that lives on", or something like that.
Thanks, man! I have been inspired!
I'm on my 2 week Reserve hitch. When I'm done I'll get to work on some ideas!!

Or instead of playing up a rivalry, how about using the two logos and using the slogan "The Sound of Louisville"?

Here's my 2 cents:
On the front, put a small version of the WAKY logo over the left breast and a small version of the WKLO logo over the right one.
On the back, put a larger version of the WAKY logo on top with the WKLO logo underneath it.
I vote for no additional slogans...just the logos. :-)

The more I hear this shirt Idea, the more I like it. May I suggest that you make the shirts UK blue? ;D

RJC, I think we bleed the same color, but let's not offend ANY WAKY fans. After all the station IS in Louisville, or rather, was.

WHAS is in Louisville, too, but they favored carrying UK games over UL. ;D Aw, Geez. I shouldn't have went there.

Okay. I've chosen some logos from which to decide for OUR t-shirts. I'm having a rather difficult time getting these JPEG's to post here. I may wind up just e-mailing them to John and having him worry about it. After thinking it over, I rather like his idea of doing away with any 'rivalry' verbage and going with just two logos on front. To put additional logos on back would just make it more expensive. After we get them posted and decide, then I'll shop around for the best quotes. Again, the choices are ones we've all seen. Seems like there wasn't much variation with the logos. Anyway look for the jpegs and gifs in the next few days!

As soon as we get the gif's and jpeg's posted, we will run a poll to decide t-shirt design. I've already had a list going of who all has shown interest over the last few months, but in fear it may be outdated, I will run a new poll in the next few weeks. We will also have to decide on t-shirt color. White is a little overdone, but whatever the majority decides. Since over the years alot of the surveys were done in yellow, THAT might be a choice (or gold, whatever color they used) and maybe black or blue for color of designs. If we use the site logos, bear in mind that multiple colors are used and the more colors used, the more the printers charge. One color for the t-shirt I will definitely NOT consider is that grotesque green they used only a few times. Then I will shop for quotes, get shipping charges, and post this information. There will not, I repeat, NOT be any profit made from these t-shirts. The prices I list will indicate cost of shirts and screen printing. Any profits will be donated to upkeep of the sites. Wouldn't that be great if we had them on before summer's end? Cool! Uhhh...John (Quincy), you'll get yours for free.

Which logos would you like to see on the WAKY and WKLO t-shirt Max is going to produce? Go to this page: www.79waky.com/logos.htm...and come back to this part of the message board and let us know what your preferences are. I'll go first. I like WAKY #1 and WKLO #1 the best.

Okay, folks, while I'm waiting on votes for logos and quotes, I'm going to start compiling a list of who has indicated an interest so far. So far I can only get into my personal messages and the WAKY message board. I believe I had some individuals on the WKLO website, but right now I can't get onto that message board (the old one). Here's who I have so far, as well as those who I think want one. If you're not on the list let me know. Likewise, if you wish to be removed, let me know, either on the board or e-mailing me. Chuck Combs GilHerbigJr Travis Rick McCubbin John Quincy myself RJC (?) Schooby74 (?) Chad (?)...added after I was finally able to access the old messageboard. When we're ready to print, you can then tell me how many you want. I added in a previous post today that there will be NO profit made. Price will only cover shirts and screen printing. If there IS any overage, we'll apply it to cover upkeep of these 2 sites. Thanks!

I'd like everone's input on the t-shirts in reference to preference for logos, sizes, quantities and color (or not) of shirt as soon as possible. I have Reserves again this weekend, but plan on taking the order to the screenprinter next week. Things are moving a little bit faster, as we intend to present one to the Duke in just a few weeks. As it stands now, WAKY #1 and WKLO #1 logos are in the lead. If you missed the link for logo choices, here it is: www.79waky.com/logos.htm

Okay, here's the poop T-shirt prices will be $10.00, which will include shipping. I will print up an order form and post it, or you can just send me an e-mail or a post telling me how many and in what size. The only feedback I've received so far has chosen WAKY #1 and WKLO #1. I've received a couple of e-mail/posts letting me know size/quantities. I plan to go to the screenprinter Wednesday and place an order of 30 shirts. If I haven't heard anything from anyone else I will order the rest in size Large. I plan to get the WAKY logo done in black and WKLO in blue. I believe white, creme/beige, or gold for shirt color would look best with the logos. And of course, should all the shirts sell, more will definitely be ordered. And don't forget hats may be on the way in the fall, as well.

We are now underway!! I put the initial order in yesterday and as of this morning, the screenprinter now has the logo information. It should be a couple of weeks. In the meantime it's just a matter of getting shipping supplies and developing a database.

Look for an order form for the shirts today! If you're paying by check, PLEASE make sure you have funds to cover. Since there is no profit being made, returned checks will hurt like a BIG DOG!

Just got my two t-shirts from Max -- and they're great!
Great color, nice screen-printing job, and good quality material. Highly recommended.
If you've been on the fence about getting one, jump off and get your 10 bucks in the mail. You'll be the envy of all your radio buddies.
Thanks to Max for all his hard work (and laying out his hard-earned money) to get this project underway.
