What? No votes for 'Broken' by the Guess Who? Outrageous!
Actually, I'm not sure why I thought of that song. I do remember that it played on WAKY during the summer of '71 and I liked it a lot. I checked the music surveys and there's a gap between February & November of that year, so I don't know how high it got on WAKY's charts or for how many months it played. It may have been from June through September.
Wow. It just hit me. Even though I have a copy, and have played it over the years, I can't recall ever hearing the song played on any radio station since hearing it on WAKY nearly 35 years ago.
Outrageous.

Max,
What do you do for the radio stations you work for? You don't mention it in your bio. Are you a DJ?
Also, I saw a poster of WRPK in Cincinnati the other day. Wasn't that a great TV show? It was a favorite of mine.

Travis, why don't you try voting for the music you enjoy like I do? I vote at times when I hear a song I remember and like. I guess my votes do count.

The music on WAKYOnline is just fine. I was just reminded of that Guess Who tune for some reason. Actually, I listen to WAKYOnline to catch the jingles and customized drops recorded by Randolph, Walker, Jason O'Brien and others.

WAKYOnline, thanks to Max, brings back the memories from the days at Fun Lovin' WAcKY. It is the jingles from those days in the KHLB and the drops that really add to the listening. The music from that era, dusts off the memory cells. I am still glad my Vote counts.

Question for MAX
Why do you play the Eagles so much? They are on the top 10. Seems like there is an Eagles song every time I log on. Is this a conspiracy?

I meant to say they are NOT on the TOP 10.

It's just how they show up in the rotation/shuffle. I have no more Eagles tunes on the playlist than do Stones, or Beatles or some of the groups. Last week I took out virtually all the Heart songs for a while because it seemed like a Heart song was being played every hour, but I'll ease them back in. Funny, I never seem to notice an overabundance of Eagles tunes, but then again, knowing how you dislike them maybe part of the reason they appear so much...you tend to notice them. That may be the reason I hear so much Supremes on the terrestrial stations...is that I dislike them so much that when they cropped up I tended to notice it more. And the top 10 is reflected by listener votes (thumbs up/down), not by me, and not necessarily by how many times a song gets played, unlike the old days with real radio stations. In our case, a song that gets played maybe 3 times a week (for example) may show up on the charts whereas a song that gets played 10 times a week may not...people just never managed to give a thumbs up the the second song, where they might be crazy about the first song. It's as simple as that, Kevin!

Man, this is so cool ! You guys are making this happen and in doing so are making this interesting. I'm able to monitor the voting and find it interesting how things can change in a week. #1 is never a secure spot when you have such vast opinions! 'Our Winter Love', which got solid backing last week to secure the top spot, really has some major negative input this week...guess it's one of those songs you either hate or love (kinda like 'Lighting Strikes', which I hate ). It's also amazing how a song that did so well in its prime can really bug folks, and vice versa. A song you hated back in the day can really bring back great memories. I wonder if the folks doing the WAKY surveys had as much fun tabulating results. By the way, you can see a color chart resembling an old survey at www.goatley.com/highbaugh/thecharts.html, if you'd like! Might even think about including jocks' photos like the old ones one day!

Elvis Presley and the Beatles have nothing to worry about. They will more than likely reign forever as the #1 artist and rock and roll group of all time. For Stephen Bishop, some things do not go 'On and On'. The first multi-week recipient of WAKYOnline's weekly top chart position (3 weeks!) has had to relinquish his crown this week. To see who knocked him off and if they are in fact, still in that position, tune in Sunday right here and at the link at bottom when the results are posted!

If you are looking at a live365 player window, which is usually the case, each song or track will have a thumbs up/down image...just click on the appropriate one. This window is blue most of the time and shows 3 tracks at a time, both the current one and the previous two.

Brand New Key made the top 10, eh? I always thought payola had to behind that song, as it is terrible. But, you might say there are some metaphors in it.

True, at the time it was a horrible little tune...but have you seen the LP cover it came off of? Looks always pays off. But then again, there are several songs you might hate at the time, but as time passes, they suddenly represent a better time. Kind of like Afternoon Delight, another song I hated at the time and still don't care for.
