Peculiar, if one goes to the chart from 1972 on the surveys page (linked from the color version below), you'll find the survey actually appears to read August "14", although the link is tagged "16"...yet the calendar from '72 has the 12th on a Saturday...strange, but then again those surveys were famous for typos.

A thousand pardons...I just now realized last week's current Top 10 showed The Chi-Lites in both #1 and #9 position (from the week before). Unfortunately, a copy of last week's HTML version was not saved, therefore last week's #9 is unknown.
Also, this week another oddity in that we have yet another charted hit showing up on both the now and then lists, 'Lyin' Eyes' by the Eagles.

Ya gotta love the old WAKY charts...numbers 6 & 7 had to be local groups...
How about it, Ben? That was during your tenure.

I really do not recall # 6 . # 7 sounds sort of familiar, this one is foggy in the brain. Tim Tyler, since you were the MD at the time, can you chime in?

Went to Wikipedia and learned Nini Rosso was an Italian trumpeter (amazing how that ever made the WAKY charts) and The Vejtables was a 60's group out of San Francisco.
Whether the artist(s) at the time were local or just not at the front of the record rack, WAKY gave ample exposure to everybody-read that as "to **** with consultants"...many of whom were probably not even born at the time!
Way to go WAKY!

I apologize again, for I just noticed a mistake on the 'then' charts last week where I included the Byrds on a 1970 chart! Oops! Guess that's what happens when you do this at 3 in the morning and are doing 3 website charts in two timeframes-you're bound to transpose erroneously. I may have to give something up...with a personal crisis going on right now, I really am going to have to give something up (at least for awhile) and it seems like the charts may be the most painless. When your mistakes start increasing and you're one who does not like making many mistakes you tend to get spread too thin, especially if it's a personal non-paying activity. I may reduce to a monthly top 40 or something, because I do LOVE charts! However, the old traffic counters haven't been moving much the last few months, indicating folks aren't interested. So after this month, we may go to a WAKYOnline monthly Top 50 for 2008. And more than likely, after the first of the year, the WAKYOnline Messageboard will be deactivated, as there apparently has never been much of an interest there. Just advance notice...

I see we have some locals on the charts. It's The Chateaus with "I'm The One", which was picked up for national release by Smash.

Posted on the WAKYOnline Messageboard
Due to inactivity and due to apparent lack of interest, this (WAKYOnline) messageboard will be discontinued at year's end. There just aren't enough hits to warrant continuing the efforts. At this time, the future of the Weekly Top 10 is also uncertain, due to low traffic. Possible alternatives to discontinuing of the charts are going to a lesser frequency, i.e., monthly or bi-monthly chart. The change would apply to one of the formats, either the actual HTML page or the thread. WAKYOnline HomePage will, however, continue as normal as will obviously the internet station.
Thank you, Max Highbaugh
